What Can Keep a Person Out of Heaven?

Galatians 5 Paul writes to believers in the churches of Galatia, warning them clearly: • Galatians 5:19–21 (NKJV) “Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” This list includes: sexual sin, impurity, sorcery, hatred, jealousy, drunkenness, and more. Paul is saying: Even if you are a Christian, living in these sins will keep you out of Heaven if not repented of. He also says in Galatians 5:4: “You have fallen from grace.”

A Christian can fall from grace by walking away from the Spirit. 2. 1 Corinthians 6 Believers Warned Paul again warns Christians: • 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 (NKJV) “Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, idolaters, adulterers… drunkards, revilers, extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” This is a warning to the church in Corinth saved people. This shows clearly: If a believer returns to a lifestyle of sin and refuses repentance, they will not inherit the kingdom. 3. Revelation 21:8 Who Will Be Lost

Revelation 21:8 (NKJV) “The cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral… and all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire.” This includes: • unbelief, • returning to wickedness, • rejecting Christ’s lordship. 4. Revelation 22:15 Outside the Holy City • Revelation 22:15 (NKJV) “Outside are dogs, sorcerers, sexually immoral, murderers, idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.”

Again: A lifestyle of unrepeated sin places a person outside God’s kingdom. 5. The Mark of the Beast (Revelation 13) Scripture is absolute: Those who receive the mark of the beast cannot enter the kingdom of God. This is not a “mistake.” It is a deliberate act of allegiance to the Antichrist and rejection of Christ. Receiving the mark = • rejecting God • choosing the beast • losing salvation

Rejecting God or Denying Christ Jesus Himself said: • Matthew 10:33 (NKJV) “Whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father.” If a believer denies Christ and refuses to repent, Jesus will deny them. 7. Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit This is the one unforgivable sin. • Matthew 12:31–32 (NKJV) “Blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.” A deliberate, hardened rejection of the Holy Spirit’s work turning against God fully cannot be forgiven.

Summary Can Salvation Be Lost? According to the New Testament: A Christian cannot lose salvation by accident, weakness, or mistakes But salvation can be forfeited through: 1. Returning to a life of sin (Galatians 5, 1 Corinthians 6) 2. Persistent rebellion 3. Unbelief or denying Christ 4. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit 5. Receiving the Mark of the Beast 6. Refusing to repent 7. Rejecting God’s authority Jesus saves completely but the believer must remain in Him.
